    Or I could not …
Or I could not cheap out on a CPU and get the 3.83ghz quad core with 12mb l2 and room to clock higher. I’m fully aware of AMD’s CPU’s and price points, I just don’t give a fuck.

    As for my build:

    As for my build:

    CPU – q9550 @3.83Ghz, $350
    MOBO – eVGA 790i ultra SLI, $200
    GPU – 2x XFX 9600gso, ~$60 each
    RAM- 4gb ddr3 @1800mhz, $70
    HDD(main)- 2x 500gb WD Caviler Black’s, $100
    PSU- 1000w, $100
    Case- full tower, $100

    Dude, I payed ~$70 bucks for my OCZ reaper 2×2gb ddr3 stock @ 1333mhz OC’ed to 1800mhz.

I think you are the one you is insane for paying anything more than that.

As for the MOBO, you can easily get a board for ~$50, infact there are pages of them on newegg. some are even ddr3.

Now for the cpu, one that will suffice (in the build in question) would cost about $100, which would get you a dual-core @ at least 2.4ghz.
