I’ve had my HP …
I’ve had my HP dv9000 since 2006 and haven’t had any problems since.
The only beef I have is the build quality which is a little cheap in my opinion but i haven’t had any problems other than the silver paint chipping off. Oh and my kensington lockport is damaged (which was my fault but it seemed too easy to damage in my view).
Other than all of this it’s working just fine. I’m using the computer right now.

I get a new laptop …
I get a new laptop every 2 years and have handed them down to my kids. I am on my 4th HP laptop
My kids are using my second one (ze5400) my DV9000 burnt out about a year ago and has been sitting in the basement the Ze5400 is still running strong but not worth upgrading the 512 ram so the kids are limited with what they can do with it
I brought the dv9000 to a repair shop to have a look to see if it was worth fixing for them the guy wouldnt even take my money to look at it

found a mobo for …
found a mobo for 100$ waiting for it to come it…pretty about spending that money but i felt bad throwing the whole thing away.
if you ask me this laptop isnt made to work with anything else than basic stuff. demanding apps make it HEAT UP very bad…and i had a really expensive very good cooling pad when it overheated to the point of melting.
know several other firends who had the DV series and their motherboards fried out. NOT buying an HP again.

I had them down to …
I had them down to around $300 but declined. I will say HP’s tech support was second to none. They helped me out alot! But only for one year. I’ve recently picked up an Acer netbook 11″6′ and a Gateway MC7833U (huge thing, but only $499 w’Win7). Both of these companies are owned by Acer and their tech support costs $59.99 for 30 minutes, only free chat! LMFAO!!! This world is full of wasted resources and my formerly perfect HP DV9810 is another example. Shit, i really liked that laptop!

Welcome to the club …
Welcome to the club, my next course of action is to convince a customer service rep to sell me a extended warranty.
You might want to give it a shot rather than spend the $398, or today guy told me $250 discounted, which is the cost of a new motherboard.
