i wud not recommend internet explorer 7 to anyone. go for internet explorer 6 or firefox.actually keepin both will help u i many ways.References :
Did the download come directly from Microsoft? Some "codecs " from unknown sources are really viruses or spyware.
If you remember the codec name you can either un-install or disable it.References :
