I’m very excited to bring you the WDTV Live. These things arrived in our warehouse minutes ago, so I grabbed one of my co-workers and we threw together a quick video to show you this cool new product.

when I play ( H264 …
when I play ( H264 & X264 ) Audio sync are not even with the video. the person talks but the sound comes out 3 seconds later. it played fine earlier but its doing it now and its doing it on all my (H264 & x264) another issue is wmv9 it supports but wont support wmv earlier codec . the Firmware Release 1.01.77 (12/3/09). a home made tweak might be needed to fix these issues

@JustifyJustin: DVD quality is better. Some people can notice the difference of quality and I am one of those people. DivX and MKV degrade the picture quality. I can see the little tiny blocks in the picture and it me off.

Great work, can you use the WD with a projector? It does have a yellow composite thingy on the back as well. Please let me know cus I’m about to buy it but I won’t if you can’t use the projector….. Cheers.

Try playing a ripped DVD movie (VOB Files) Western Digital claims that it will play VOB files seamlessly but that is BULL SHIT! This device is such a piece of shit, that a black screen will freeze for about 9 seconds before it will play the next VOB file in sequence. I got a server with ripped DVD movies on it and I bought this device for my Home Theater only because on the box it claimed to play VOB files which is DVD structure! What a off!

too bad, after the 01.24 firmware update, the WD TV Live can “NO LONGER stream HQ nor HD youtube videos”. this is why I returned it because I bought it for the HD youtube experience which my PS3 does not provide. just something to consider for those of you looking to buy it

the best video …
the best video format for WD player is H264 & X264 & it 1gb & half or movie storage on the hard drive space. , Apple tv uses this format & the picture is sharp on a hd tv & it wont stretch or show Pixel boxes, AVI 700 mb is not the greatest. I did the study finding the best.good luck people

the Wd player need Wireless movie sending to hard drive, and movies at 700 mb are terrible if watching in 32 inch tv HD . What Gb or mb would make it good picture quality ??
